Photo Booth! Hot or Not?

Dear brides, grooms and friends,
At JM Wedding Creations we are always looking for new trends to keep our brides current with the times. In our effort to do this we also like to make sure that these trends are hot and would definitely leave good lasting impressions on your guests. This month that trend is Photo Booths at wedding receptions. We took it upon ourselves to take a thorough survey to see what the public census on this was. We asked wedding guests, brides and even the father of a bride what their experience with it was like. Here are some of their responses:
Nife Oje (NJ Bride) said: “Oh My God! I loved it. My guests loved it and that was so important to me. At first I wasn’t exactly sure how people would react to it but everyone seemed to love it. I was looking at my guestbook the morning after and I was so pleased. Even my grandparents had gotten in there and taken some goofy and playful pictures!! I love that the guests each got to keep a copy and that I got to keep one in my guestbook as well. Everyone loved it!!”
James Guy (Father of a PA bride) said: “ha-ha it was very nice. It made me proud to see all the guests having so much fun with it at my daughter’s wedding.”
Timothy Clemons (DE groom) said: “I was amazed to see how many people were waiting on line to get in that booth!! And a lot of people got animated for the camera in ways that they would never get for our professional photographer.”
So how does JM Wedding Creations vote when it comes to the photo booth? We give it a FLAMING HOT!! Why not get your guests to have fun while making lasting memories! It serves a great party favor and an even better piece in your guestbook so not only do you get to see what the guests had to say to you on your special day, you also get a constant reminder of how much fun they had when you look at their smiles and poses in that keepsake photo. Now that you know our take on the topic, tell us yours!! Leave a comment with your vote or send an email to jmweddingcreations@gmail.com and tell us about a wedding trend that you’d like us to vote HOT or NOT!!

Don't Fall Short When Planning for that Spectacular Fall Wedding!

Dear brides, grooms and friends,
Many struggle in their journey to plan that perfect fall wedding, after all planning a wedding takes much organization and attention to details. Today I will give you some ideas to make the process easier for all you fall brides.
When picking colors for your fall themed wedding consider such colors as burnt orange, yellow, brown, red, eggplant and even gold. Don’t be hesitant to go for these rich colors and don’t feel the need to incorporate each of these colors into your design. Consider pairings like eggplant and gold or brown, orange and red.
When choosing fabrics go for seasonal-colored linens and velvety fabrics. These can be incorporated into all aspects of your wedding from velvety textures in your invitations(as seen above in picture; email jmweddingcreations@gmail.com if you are interested in this invitation) to gold linens at the reception.
When trying to decide which flowers to use, go with in season flowers not only because they are cheaper as a result of not having to ship them from overseas but also because they add to the décor of the perfect fall wedding. Consider such flowers as coxcombs; red, plum or orange dahlias; roses are always good; green and purple hydrangeas and sunflowers. Also try and incorporate seasonal non-floral accents like Hypercom berries, lotus pods and fiddlehead ferns to name a few.
Bouquets can include a variety of these flowers and should be densely packed and have a stem covered with ribbons.
When it comes time to choose the perfect bridal gown, don’t worry brides, there are lots of styles and fabrics to choose from. Consider such styles with bustled trains, corset style bodice and trumpet and mermaid silhouettes. These styles combined with fabrics like sheer chiffon, Chantilly lace, taffeta and tulle will accentuate the body and keep all eyes glued to the bride. Incorporate some pleated ruffles and petite bows for extra glam and play with the idea of bold necklines. Use light wraps to complete the look.
When it comes to the actual wedding, it is okay to have the ceremony outside, especially around the month of November with the leafs colors, but an indoor reception is an absolute must. Use tall reception pieces for a classic fall look or alternate between sort and tall pieces for a more formal look. Have fun with bold looking vases; do not limit yourself to the classic white or crystal vase.
Of course food is another important aspect of the wedding. Try using soups and seafood starters instead of the traditional salads. A fish mousse or crab bisque is sure to please your guests. If you do decide to go with the traditional salad, try adding some seasonal accents such as roasted walnuts and pumpkin seeds. For the main course choose between entrees with filet, roasted chicken, salmon or even a rack of lamb. For the deserts go with seasonal favorites like caramel-coated apples or cinnamon sticks.
The cake is another grand piece of the reception. Try using seasonal flavors instead of the classic white cake. A pumpkin cake with cream cheese or spice cake with blackberry filling is sure to please the pallet.
All of these ideas can be incorporated to give brides and grooms the perfect and awe-inspiring wedding they’ve always dreamed of. Send an email to jmweddingcreations@gmail.com with any specific questions you may have on this topic.
Best Wishes,
Marie Cui.

8 secrets to save money for your wedding!

Bride's Question:

Dear Marie,
My fiance and I are paying for our own wedding and working with a limited budget. I'm so scared to buy anything because I don't want to go over my budget. What are some of the things we can do to cut cost and still have the beautiful wedding that I always dreamed of? Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Katie

Marie's Answer:

Dear Katie,
In order to create a beautiful wedding on a budget, the most important thing is to be creative! I will give you a list of things that can help you save money and your wallet:

1). Choose a Friday or Sunday date instead of the usual Saturday wedding because most venues give discounts for non-Saturday weddings. Keep your guests in mind when you choose your date. If you have a lot of out of state guests, then Friday might be a better choice since it gives them the entire weekend to make it back home to work. Sunday weddings are great for 3 day weekends!

2). Cut your guest list, then cut it again! This might sound like a hard thing to do, but if you are working with a limited budget; this is the best way to save money and still have a beautiful wedding. Very often, you can save up to $1,000 by simply cutting 10 guests. So, really think about who are the most important ones YOU want to celebrate your big day with! Is it really that important to you to invite that part time associate and her guest vs. having the beautiful wedding that you were dreaming of since you were 12yrs. old?

3). Consolidate your purchases! Find a venue that offers as many wedding related items as possible. There are a lot of venues out there that have a lot more than just a place to eat and dance. They will include cake, linens, waitstaff, centerpieces, lighting, sometimes even limo service and DJ. The more you buy from one vendor, the cheaper it usually ends up being! The cost of the package may seem high, but ones you calculate all the things included(and trust me, I've done the math), it is usually much cheaper than buying them from different vendors.)

4). Negotiate a trade of services. If you own your own business or have a demanding talent like fixing computer or something; then talk to the owner and see if you can trade your services with theirs. I know this sounds a little out there, but all I'm saying is try! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Many of the vendors don't have a lot of overhead. For example, limo service or DJ. There isn't too much overhead because they already own the vehicles and music equipments. So if you are really good at fixing computers, you can ask the owner and see if you guys can make a trade of services. Maybe you can fix his computer for free for a year ( a five hundred dollar value ) for one night of his free (or a discounted price) limo or dj service. (I would try free first and then negotiate from there)... May be you are a contractor, or a teacher (can offer free tutoring for their kids) or own a car wash. Whatever it may be, be generous, confident and creative and I think you'll find that most people want to be in the spirit of helping each other.

5). Explore the Dollar Stores! Many brides underestimate their decoration budget. From my experience, this is one of the largest areas where brides tend to go over budget. So, start exploring the dollar stores! There, you can find many things that may fit your wedding theme. Talk to your wedding planner and have them explore the dollar store and come back to you with some create ideas they gathered! Put your wedding planner to work for you and help you save money!

6). Get a partial fake cake. Have the baker only bake one layer of a decorated cake for cake cutting. The rest of your cake can be a rental from baker. The baker can still bake the same tasting cake for the guests, but it doesn't have to be as decorated. This cake will be kept in the kitchen til serving time. This way, you get your beautiful cake for the pictures and the cake cutting, and your guests get to eat your yummy cake!

7). Talk to a wedding planner before you make any purchases! Many people think that wedding planners are too above their price range even though they know how much easier planning would be if they had one. The truth is, not all planners are expensive. Some planners can save you a lot of money! For example, at J&M Wedding Creations, our company gets exclusive discounts and special services from vendors and we pass those discounts directly to our brides. We are able to score good deals because we work with the vendors on a consistent basis; so our brides can take advantage of the deals that we get! I admit, not every wedding planner offer this, however, usually the first consultations are free, so feel free to explore your options with wedding planners and see how they can help you. To find out more about the discounts at J&M Wedding Creations, go to: http://www.jmweddingcreations.com/contact.php

8). register cash instead of gifts. That's right! I said it! Why should only the Chinese and Italians get to register cash. The truth is all new married couples could use some cash! What are you going to do with that beautiful Egyptian cotton sheets if you guys haven't bought that dream house? Ask for cash! Just be creative with it when you put that in the invitations. Your wedding planner or your maid of honor might be of help to give you some pointers on its wording. Have fun with it and get paid on your wedding day!
